Six foodservice equipment manufacturers were among the hundreds of organizations and businesses honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with its 2023 Energy Star Awards.

The Habit Burger, True Food Kitchen and Lion’s Choice announced personnel updates this week.

In April Fred Burmer will take over as CEO of Lion’s Choice. He replaces Michael Kupstas as CEO of the St. Louis-based restaurant chain. Kupstas is retiring after nearly 50 years in the restaurant industry, including 6 with Lion’s Choice.

San Antonio-based Ace Mart Restaurant Supply has acquired Wichita Restaurant Supply Company, based in Wichita Falls, Texas. The move extends Ace Mart’s presence in Texas.

True Food Kitchen introduced John Williams as the chain’s CEO. Williams joins True Food Kitchen from Lazy Dog Restaurants as the former chief marketing officer.

Maryland-based commercial brick oven manufacturer Marra Forni added two regional sales managers.

Multiconcept operator Yum! Brands will promote Shannon Hennessy to CEO of The Habit Burger Grill Division, effective June 6.

TriMark USA added Brenda Albright, Adrienne Natale, and Mark Doles to the foodservice equipment and supplies dealer’s category management team.

Although still growing, sales of foodservice equipment and supplies continue to moderate reflecting a somewhat less volatile marketplace.

Commercial cooking equipment manufacturer Vulcan hired Alex Piñero to serve as project manager – custom and heavy-duty products. This role is part of the Vulcan Design Team, which supports the company’s project-based business.

Church’s Texas Chicken hired Roland Gonzalez to serve as U.S. chief operations officer.

Winholt added one person to its sales organization and promoted two others. Winholt hired Marty Palazeti to serve as stainless steel fabrication foodservice representative, while it promoted Mark Harsy to senior regional sales manager and Bradley Williamson to NE regional sales manager for foodservice. 

Insinger Machine Co. added three foodservice industry veterans to its sales team. Jay Craig now serves as director of business development, David Baysinger as regional sales manager and Matt Giove as a sales representative.

Commercial plumbing equipment manufacturer Sloan appointed Dr. Paul Sambanis to serve as its vice president of sustainability.

Foodservice equipment and supplies buying groups Excell and Nissco made a series of personnel moves. The organizations hired Justin LaCrosse to serve as vice president of business development - strategic segments.

Polar King Mobile hired Christina York as a dealer coordinator.

Insinger Machine Co., Winholt and Vulcan each added members to their teams. While Carpigiani North America updated its sales and marketing structure and made a series of organizational updates.

T&S Brass and Bronze Works hired Stefan Stürmer as sales manager for Central/Eastern Europe.
