The National Restaurant Association Show named 20 products as the recipients of its 2023 Kitchen Innovations Awards. These products “celebrate the back-of-house innovations that improve operations and generate growth through advances in automation, sustainability, efficiency, space-saving and more,” per the show organizer.

Wallace Streich, founder of Wisconsin-based foodservice equipment dealer Streich Equipment Co., died on January 31, 2023. He was 97 years old.

Alyssa Auerbach was promoted to vice president of member services for the Excell and Nissco buying groups. She previously served as marketing manager.

Paul Klein, a longtime foodservice equipment and supplies dealer, passed away on January 15, 2023. The past owner of Atlanta Fixtures, Klein was 90 years old. Klein owned the company for close to 60 years.

Foodservice consulting firm Envision Strategies promoted long-time team member Sojo Alex to the role of principal and added two senior consultants, Mindy Segal, and Glenn Gerchman.

Taco Cabana promoted company veteran Ulyses Camacho to president.

Service agent Tech24 has bought Commercial Kitchen Repairs, a provider of repair services, preventative maintenance and installation for commercial cooking equipment.

Paul Parr was promoted to general manager of TriMark Hockenbergs. Based in Nebraska, TriMark Hockenbergs is part of TriMark USA.

After leading the Wisconsin-based manufacturer for more than 15 years, Vollrath’s Paul Bartelt has decided to retire from his post as president and CEO. Erik Lampe will join Vollrath in March first serving as company president before taking over as CEO in June.

Hoshizaki America, Inc. appointed Konrad Barraclough to fill the newly created position of vice president of regional supply chain.

S2O Consultants has promoted company veteran Ryan Rongo, FCSI to vice president of design.

Massachusetts-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealer TriMark USA made two new hires. Anthony Ubaka will serve as TriMark's first senior director of credit and collections. In addition, Hyacinth Vincent has joined TriMark’s Chicago team as the senior master data management director.

EMC, Mirk and Preferred Marketing Group update their line cards, while Pecinka Ferri Associates makes a key promotion.

The North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers presented the 2023 William W. Carpenter Award posthumously to Mike Carpenter, CFSP and the Louise O’Sullivan Award of Excellence to Buffy Schechter Levy, The NAFEM Show director.

Whataburger hired restaurant industry veteran Debbie Stroud to serve as its executive vice president and chief operating officer. Stroud’s restaurant industry career spans more than 30 years, including the past 5 with Starbucks where she served as sr. vice president, U.S. retail operations.

The North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) has awarded 31 allied industry leaders with its Doctorate of Foodservice Award for their contributions to their associations and the industry at large.
