Lenny Comma has announced his plans to step down as chairman and chief executive officer for Jack in the Box. Although no exact time frame was provided, the quick-service restaurant chain’s board of directors has begun a search to find Comma’s replacement.

Curt Benson, vice president/sales and marketing manager for Food Warming Equipment, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 29. He was 57 years old.

Nathan’s Famous hired Jim Hicks to serve as director of operational services and training and Erik Mallon to serve as senior director of franchise development.

Multiconcept operator Xperience Restaurant Group, owner of renowned chain Chevy’s Fresh Mex, added two new concepts to its portfolio of Mexican themed restaurants: SOL Mexican Cocina and solita Tacos & Margaritas.

Roy Rogers Restaurants hired John Giffin to fill the newly created position of consumer care manager for the western themed quick service chain. Based in the company’s Frederick, Md., headquarters, Giffin will  oversee the administration of all consumer care activities, which includes guest relations and recovery programs, brand reputation management, mystery shopper activity and guest intercepts to gather feedback on strategic initiatives.

Smokey Bones appointed James O’Reilly to serve as CEO for the 62-unit full-service restaurant chain. O’Reilly joins Smokey Bones from Long John Silver’s, where he served as CEO for four years.

Arc appointed Michael Richards to serve as CEO of the glass tableware manufacturer’s Asia-Pacific region. He succeeds Nicolas Ajacques.

In a move that supports the chain’s international growth aspirations, California Pizza Kitchen appointed Giorgio Minardi to serve as executive vice president of global development and franchise operations. Minardi will lead the development of CPK’s international and domestic franchise business.

The Middleby Corporation continues to broaden its portfolio of coffee-related product lines with the purchase of Synesso. Based in Seattle, Synesso designs and manufactures semi-automatic espresso machines for the commercial foodservice market and has $10 million in annual revenue, per a release announcing the deal.

Greg Stak will become vice president of ACP Inc., effective December 1. Stak serves as vice president of Electro Freeze / HC Duke & Son. Both are Ali Group companies.
