Foodservice industry veteran David Maroun was named vice president of sales for Server Products, a Wisconsin-based manufacturer of in portion-controlled dispensing and point-of-use holding of ambient, chilled and heated products.

The zero waste philosophy focuses on eliminating all or most material sent to landfills, oceans, or incinerators through reuse, recovery, recycling and composting. That generally means a 90 percent to 95 percent diversion rate of solid waste. Elimination of all landfill waste is the ultimate goal for the zero waste movement. More institutions around the country continue to join this effort given growing concerns over dwindling landfill space, leaching gases and the continued environmental impacts of ocean dumping or trash incineration.

After acquiring a 78,000-square-foot office building, Wingstop Inc. will relocate its corporate headquarters to Addison, Texas.

Delivery continues to shape the way today’s foodservice operators do business. So much so, in fact, that many operators continue to explore running delivery only restaurants. Take, for example, Cousins Subs, which opened its first delivery-only restaurant in Milwaukee in June.

A June 26 fire destroyed the New Albany, Miss., warehouse leased by Standex Refrigerated Solutions Group. No employees were in the warehouse at the time and there were no injuries reported, per a Standex release. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Quick-service restaurant industry veteran Jim Norberg has joined Papa John’s as chief restaurant operations officer overseeing the company’s North American corporate and franchised units.

Former YUM! Brands executive Anna Brechoteau was appointed director of IoT enterprise solutions for Kitchen Brains.

Johnson-Lancaster and Associates has acquired Bezac Equipment Company. Both companies are foodservice equipment and supplies dealerships.

In a deal valued at approximately $650 million, private equity firm L Catterton has agreed to acquire Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group. The all-cash deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2019 and remains subject to customary closing considerations, per a release announcing the transaction.

In a deal involving two service agents, Pennsylvania-based K&D Factory Service has acquired Maine-based Pine Tree Food Equipment. Pine Tree will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of K&D Factory Service.

Consulting firm Cini•Little added two project managers to its ranks: Katja Beck in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jonathon Turnbull in Los Angeles.

Scott Heim has been named president of Middleby Ventless Solutions. In his new role Heim will lead the efforts of all of the Middleby commercial brands with ventless cooking solutions. His responsibilities will include sales and marketing, new product development and approvals as well as the development of training tools. Heim also will continue in his role as president of Evo America.

Scott Colosi retired from his post as president of Texas Roadhouse. Kent Taylor, the restaurant chain’s founder and CEO, will assume the role of president.

Hooters of America is about to get a new nesting spot. That’s because private investment firms Nord Bay Capital and TriArtisan Capital Advisors have agreed to acquire the chain known for its chicken wings from owners H.I.G. Capital, Chanticleer Holdings and other investors. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kitchen Brains appointed former McDonald’s and Middleby Corp. executive Dave Jendal to serve as vice president, global business solutions for the provider of IOT connectivity and control systems for commercial kitchens.

Renau Electronic Laboratories hired Paul Simmonds to serve as business development manager for the designer and manufacturer of electronic microprocessor controller applications for the foodservice industry.

Operators continue to watch ventless trends as manufacturers bring more ventless equipment to market, including ventless deep fryers and ventless griddle systems. Ventless griddle systems extract hot air coming off the griddle surface and run it through a series of filters before exhausting it.

In a deal valued at $10 million, the parent company to Fatburger has acquired Elevation Burger.
