Longtime retail industry executive Tony Costanzo will assume the president of TriMark Orange County, effective August 5. TriMark Orange County is part of TriMark USA, a foodservice equipment and supplies dealer based in Mansfield, Mass.

Edward Don & Company hired Mike Bartoszek to serve as vice president of operations and Ryan Higgins to serve as regional sales manager for the Woodridge, Ill.-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealer.

In a move that adds to its growing design-build capabilities, Edward Don & Company has purchased Shervan Colonel Equipment Corp., a Las Vegas-based company that designs commercial kitchens. Shervan Colonel Equipment will operate as a division of Edward Don & Company and remain under the leadership of Drew Shervan.

Ursula Vermillion will retire from her post as executive vice president of national smallwares for The Wasserstrom Company effective June 28. The Columbus, Ohio-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealer hired Cathy King to fill Vermillion’s role.

Foodservice Equipment & Supplies named Nick Pope, project manager for The Boelter Companies in Chicago, its 2019 DSR of the Year. Pope accepted his award during FE&S’ 2019 Dealer of the Year and Industry Awards Gala, which took place May 18 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.

Edward Don & Company has bought Myers Restaurant Supply, a Santa Rosa, Calif.-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealer. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Numbers tell a compelling story at TriMark USA, which since 2014 has held the top spot on FE&S’ Distribution Giants ranking of the nation’s largest foodservice equipment and supplies dealers. That year, the South Attleboro, Mass.-based, company reported prior-year sales of $944 million, overtaking longtime leader Edward Don & Co. The same year, it became the first E&S dealership to pass the $1 billion milestone and has since continued to widen the gap between itself and many of its competitors.

Unlike most CEOs whose companies sell to private equity, Jerry Hyman is still around and very much the captain of the ship at TriMark USA. Now on its fourth private-equity partnership in the past 20 years, he’s become skilled at navigating those sometimes shark-infested waters, honing an approach that doesn’t just satisfy profit-hungry PE partners but that ultimately adds value to the company and, in turn, to its customers.
