In a deal involving two of the top 20 foodservice equipment and supplies dealers in the country, Singer Equipment Co. has acquired Hotel & Restaurant Supply. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hotel & Restaurant Supply will now go to market under the name Singer H&R, per a release announcing the deal. Mason Greene, chairman of H&R, will remain with the company serving as managing director of H&R.
“My family and I, over three generations, along with our dedicated team, have had the privilege of growing Hotel & Restaurant Supply to become the leading foodservice equipment dealer in the Southeast. We have selected Singer as our partner to accelerate our next phase of growth,” Greene says. “I am excited by the meaningful opportunities for both our customers and employees that come from joining the strengths of these two family businesses.”
Marcus Lyon, president of Hotel & Restaurant Supply, will continue as president of Singer H&R. “As a company, we will continue to focus on strong growth and the benefits from our new scale and resources as a result of this transaction,” Lyon said in a statement.
This marks Singer Equipment Co.’s seventh strategic acquisition over the past 13 years. Over that time the company acquired M. Tucker (2011) Ashland Equipment (2017), Facilities Services (2017), EVI (2019), Thompson & Little (2021) and Kittredge Restaurant Equipment (2022). Each of those deals helped Singer Equipment Co. expand its reach up and down the Atlantic seaboard. The acquisition of H&R takes Singer Equipment Co. into several adjacent states within the Southeast as the company starts growing toward the West. Hotel & Restaurant Supply is headquartered in Meridian, Miss., and has six additional locations throughout Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana.
“I am thrilled to support the entire Hotel & Restaurant Supply organization in its growth plans. Hotel & Restaurant Supply, and the Greene family, are recognized leaders in the industry with broad respect from vendors and customers, and a reputation for integrity and excellence,” says Fred Singer president and CEO of Singer Equipment Co. “Together we will bring new opportunities to our customers and co-workers alike. We look forward to expanding our company into the fast-growing Southeast.”
Hotel & Restaurant Supply reported earnings of $126.64 million in 2023, making it the 20th largest foodservice equipment and supplies dealer in the company, per FE&S 2024 Distribution Giants study. Singer Equipment reported earnings of $674.89 million, making it the fifth largest dealer in the country.
