Smart Care and PT Holdings Add to their Portfolios

After a brief respite for the holidays, acquisition activity has kicked back into gear among service agents and parts distributors in the form of two new deals. Smart Care Equipment Solutions has acquired Superior Service of Anaheim, Calif., and Parts Town’s parent company, PT Holdings, has acquired European parts distributor REPA Group.

Superior Service provides maintenance and repair services for hot and cold side foodservice equipment to a customer base that includes full-service and quick-service restaurants, food retail and corporate dining operations. This is Smart Care’s 15th acquisition and supports the company’s aggressive growth strategy of buying service companies. In 2021, for example, Smart Care acquired six different companies.

Alexander Wiegand, CEO of REPA Group, will continue to lead the REPA Group’s European operation, per a release announcing the deal. REPA Group has 13 locations, including several automated warehouses, operating from such countries as Italy, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

Overall, 2021 was an active acquisition period for PT Holdings, which acquired several service agents, including Duffy’s AIS in December and K&D Factory Service Equipment in November. In the midst of those deals, the Addison, Ill.-based OEM pars distributor launched an e-commerce platform developed by the company’s innovation arm known as Red Lightning Group. The marketplace makes available a curated list of light equipment, smallwares, tabletop items, consumables and other products available for purchase.
