Accurex Simplifies Safety
Amid the heat, smoke, steam, and grease of commercial cooking, a kitchen ventilation system should make safety simple so kitchen staff can concentrate on the things that really matter, like making delicious food. Accurex’s complete kitchen ventilation systems solve for safety while also enhancing efficiency and comfort.
Accurex’s printed circuit board (PCB)-based controls interlock to hood fire suppression systems, instantly respond in any fire event, and feature full-color touchscreens that clearly alert the user to any fault or error. The PCB controls drive the ventilation fans through constant monitoring of temperature sensors mounted in the capture tank on the hood, where they trigger exhaust fans up to five times faster than sensors mounted behind the hood filters. Optional hood-mounted optic sensors are available which detect smoke and steam generation, providing a rapid ventilation response in situations where temperature sensors may take additional time to react. Accurex controls can be configured for constant or variable volume operation, where fan speeds modulate in response to hood temperature or smoke detection. With 50% turndown capability and potential energy savings of up to 88% when the system is operating at half-speed, this system boosts efficiency at the same time as it maximizes safety.
Accurex’s direct gas-fired make-up air offering, model XDGX, is another example of putting safety first. It provides fresh outdoor air heated over a gas flame for precise temperature control and comfort. XDGX is now available with packaged direct expansion (PDX) cooling, which uses environmentally friendly R-454B refrigerant. Accurex completed extensive testing to ensure XDGX exceeds product safety standards such as UL 60335-2-40 with this refrigerant. Beyond safety, XDGX is capable of 50% airflow turndown and is engineered to achieve 92% energy efficiency.
The XDGX direct gas-fired make-up air unit with PDX cooling sets a new standard for efficiency and comfort.
Any discussion of kitchen safety would be incomplete without mentioning fire suppression systems. Accurex is proud to offer both ANSUL® and Amerex® fire suppression. These systems can be configured with either mechanical or electrical detection methods. Traditional mechanical detection uses metal fusible links mounted along the length of the hood that, upon reaching a specified temperature, melt and release tension in a cable to actuate the fire system. Meanwhile, electronic detection, offered in systems like Amerex KP and Zone Defense™, uses linear heat detectors that more evenly monitor the entire appliance lineup and send an electronic signal to the actuation module upon detecting a specified temperature. Electronic systems have detectors with no moving parts and feature constant monitoring, notifications, and history, elevating safety even further.
Accurex offers many more products, such as exhaust hoods, exhaust fans, and dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS). We work with every customer to learn their specific needs and provide a tailored solution. Talk to an Accurex expert about how to simplify your kitchen ventilation environment.
