Red Lobster Preps Next Steps After Bankruptcy

Financially challenged seafood chain Red Lobster may be getting closer to emerging from bankruptcy. Fortress Investment Group has formed RL Investor Holdings, a company that would like to acquire the chain from Red Lobster Management and it has named a new CEO.

Bloomin’ Brands Names Spanos CEO

Multiconcept operator Bloomin’ Brands hired Delta Airlines exec Michael Spanos to serve as its chief executive officer, effective September 3, 2024. He replaces David Deno, who announced his retirement in May of 2024.

Freddy’s Opens a Training and Innovation Center

Fast-casual restaurant chain Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened a 23,000-square-foot training and innovation center in Wichita, Kans.

Edward Don Updates Teams

Edward Don & Company made a series of promotions and other personnel moves within its sales and merchandising departments.

FoodSpace Opens Test Kitchen in Idaho

Schumaker Consulting Group, which goes to market as FoodSpace, opened a 5,600-square-foot test kitchen and culinary design studio in Meridian, Idaho.

Manufacturer Updates

Hoshizaki America made multiple personnel updates including appointing company veteran Jake Kimmel to serve as director of training, as well as updating its product and marketing teams. Irinox Professional North America tapped Mark Ortiz to serve as national sales director.
