A major transition is happening at Jersey Mike’s as restaurant industry veteran Charlie Morrison will become chairman of the fast-casual sandwich chain, effective April 28, 2025. Morrison replaces longtime CEO Peter Cancro, who is stepping down 50 years after acquiring the company’s first location.
Charlie MorrisonCancro will remain chairman of the Jersey Mike’s Board of Directors and “a significant minority shareholder,” per a company release. Nigel Travis, former chairman and CEO of Dunkin’ Brands, was named as lead director. Morrison will also serve on the Board of Directors for the Company.
Morrison brings more than three decades of experience to his role with Jersey Mike’s. Most recently, Morrison was CEO of Salad and Go. Prior to that he served as CEO of Wingstop. Morrison’s restaurant industry resume includes working with such other concepts as Pizza Inn, Pizza Hut, Steak and Ale and Boston Market.
The leadership transition comes roughly six months after Jersey Mike’s sold a majority stake in its company to Blackstone Capital for $8 billion, per various published reports, including this one from Yahoo! Finance.
