Remembering Theodore Farrand of Cini-Little

Longtime foodservice consultant Theodore “Ted” Farrand, FCSI, FMP, of Cini-Little International died on April 17, 2025.

Theodore “Ted” FarrandTheodore “Ted” FarrandFarrand’s foodservice career began with operational roles at Stouffer's Restaurants and Magic Pan, Inc., where he built a foundation in restaurant operations. In 1987, he joined Cini-Little, where he would spend 38 years in foodservice consulting. During his tenure with Cini-Little, Farrand held various leadership positions, including serving as president and director of management advisory services (MAS) prior to his recent retirement.

Throughout his career, Farrand provided operational reviews, market research, master planning, and operator selection assistance for more than 500 clients across diverse sectors, including college and university, corporate, government, healthcare, gaming, convention center, and hospitality industries, per Cini-Little.

“Ted was a true mentor to so many of us at Cini-Little,” says Kathleen Held, president/CEO. “He brought a unique blend of professional expertise and personal warmth to every project and relationship. His thoughtful approach to complex challenges and genuine interest in helping others succeed made him not just a respected colleague but a trusted friend to clients and team members alike.”

Farrand was an active member of Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) and the Foodservice Management (SHFM). He also maintained the National Restaurant Association's Food Management Professional (FMP) designation throughout his career. In 2016, Farrand received the SHFM Bob Pacifico Above and Beyond Award, recognizing his contributions to the foodservice industry.

A graduate of Penn State University’s Foodservice and Housing Administration program, Farrand also served on the board of directors for the Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society.

Details regarding a memorial service have yet to be released.
