Yum! Brands and Twin Hospitality Group are both on the hunt for new chief executive officers.
David Gibbs, chief executive officer of Yum! Brands, told the multiconcept operator’s board of directors he intends to retire from the company within the next year. In addition, Joe Hummel, CEO of Twin Hospitality Group, the parent company of Twin Peaks Restaurant, has resigned his position effective April 10, 2025, to “pursue other opportunities,” per a company release. Hummel has been with Twin Peaks for more than 14 years.
The Yum! Brands board of directors has established a succession planning committee to identify Gibbs’ successor. He will continue to lead the company through the search process until his retirement, which is expected in the first quarter of 2026. Gibbs has been with Yum! Brands for 36 years and he became its CEO in 2020.
Twin Hospitality Group’s chief legal officer, Clay Mingus, also resigned. Ken Kuick, Twin Hospitality Group’s chief financial officer, now serves as the company’s interim CEO and Allen Sussman, general Counsel of FAT Brands Inc., has been appointed interim chief legal officer.
Twin Hospitality Group went public in January of 2025. The company plans to open nine to eleven Twin Peaks Restaurants in 2025, per a release. In 2024, Twin Peaks reported that same-store sales declined 0.6%.
