Tony Moralejo was appointed president of Applebee’s. He replaces John Cywinski, who is leaving parent company Dine Brands for a CEO position at another restaurant company, per a release announcing these transitions.
Moralejo previously served as president, Dine Brands International and Global Development. Scott Gladstone will fill that role. Gladstone previously served as vice president of strategy and innovation for Dine Brands.
Moralejo joined Dine Brands in 2020. His background includes serving as executive vice president for international business and global development at Church’s Chicken and its international brand, Texas Chicken. Earlier in his career, Moralejo worked for more than 18 years for Burger King in various leadership roles.
Gladstone joined Dine Brands in 2016. His background includes working with The Boston Consulting Group where he advised Fortune 100 companies, working across practices and industries.
Cywinski became president of Applebee’s in 2017. This represented a return to Applebee’s as Cywinski served as chief marketing officer of Applebee’s from 2001-2006 before leaving for a position with Brinker.
Dine Brands also serves as the parent company for restaurant chains IHOP and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop.
