Although I am no expert on sustainability, it seems to me that that the best kind of recycled glass is that made from the shards of a glass ceiling.
As the female founder of an original content creation company in the male-dominated publishing industry, I know something of the challenges that Jan Murtagh and Shawn DiGruccio of CDN refer to in this month's Parting Shot article (page 72). This mother-daughter team reflects on its experiences and discuss what it takes to thrive in today's ultra-competitive foodservice industry.
Also, in this issue, we feature a fun pictorial recap of FE&S' 2014 Dealer of the Year and All Industry Awards Gala, which took place in May (page 28). Thank you to everyone who was there, and to those of you who weren't able to attend, I hope that you go to www.fesmag.com/doy2014 and check out the wonderful acceptance speeches from our deserving honorees.
Speaking of those deserving recognition, in this issue we proudly introduce you to R.W. Smith's Jason Sem, who earned FE&S' DSR of the Year honors (page 16). Jason combines his self-described quirkiness with equal parts California-cool and an unyielding work ethic to win over customers. I know that you will enjoy his story, as well.
Please keep your feedback coming....we love to hear from you on social media, email, and yes, by telephone. Let us know what you like and what we can do better.
All the best,
