Cleaning and Maintenance for Semi-Automatic Coffee Makers

Coffee’s overall quality and freshness depends on keeping the equipment clean and maintained. These units are negatively impacted by lime scale, which can not only damage parts, but also shorten the units’ service life.

Mineral content should be kept below 5 and as close to 3 grains per gallon, or GPG, as possible. This will eliminate 70% of machine failures.

Because semi-automatic coffee machines require more cleaning and maintenance tasks than automatic units, attention should be given to keeping the portafilters, baskets and shower screens in good condition.
