Chain Operating Report for April 11

This week's report includes a pair of bagel franchisees getting into the delivery game, international expansion, financial results and more.

A pair of Big Apple Bagels franchisees launched a new delivery program across three locations in the Kalamazoo, Mich., market. Franchisees Jason and Rachel Boussom and Doug and Lisa Victoria have developed a centralized phone number customers can call and be directed to the nearest location, which then takes and fills the breakfast or lunch order. A fourth Kalamazoo location, due to open the week of April 16th will also participate in the program. Although other Big Apple Bagels restaurants accept delivery orders, they do so on an individual operator basis with their regular menu offering, which may differ from location to location in terms of selection and price. The Kalamazoo franchisees have developed a delivery menu that is consistent in selection and price regardless of which location handles the order.

Fast-casual chain Così, Inc. (NASDAQ: COSI), reached a development agreement with a new franchisee, Fast Casual S. A., to develop Così restaurants in Costa Rica. The agreement calls for Fast Casual S.A. to develop five locations over five years beginning with their first location expected to open later this year.

Good Times Restaurants Inc. (NASDAQ: GTIM) reported that same store sales for March increased 7.9 percent and same store sales increased 7.3 percent for its second fiscal quarter that ended March 31.

Rita's Italian Ice signed an area franchise development agreement for part of Los Angeles County, Calif., and for Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao also known as the ABC Islands. Rita's also announced that Scott Schubiger has joined the company as senior vice president of franchise sales.

The Wendy's Company (NASDAQ: WEN) reached an agreement with The Wissol Group to develop 25 restaurants in Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan over the next 10 years. Wissol is expected to open its first Wendy's location in Tbilisi in 2013.

Wingstop reported a 10.5 percent increase in same store sales for the first quarter of 2012. In addition, Wingstop reported signing franchise agreements in the first quarter that will result in 58 new locations in the United States.
