Fast food icons Burger King and McDonald’s announced management changes for their international divisions. Burger King appointed Jose Cil president of its Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region and Steve Easterbrook was named president of McDonald’s Europe effective Dec. 1.
Cil began his career with Burger King in 2000, as a senior attorney and assumed positions of increasing responsibility within the chain’s global operations function. In 2005, he joined the EMEA team as division vice president of operations. In 2008, Cil returned to the U.S. as division vice president of company operations. Most recently, he served as vice president and regional manager for Wal-Mart Stores in Florida.
A 16-year McDonald’s employee, Easterbrook most recently served as its executive vice president and global chief brand officer. He previously served as CEO of McDonald's United Kingdom and president of the company’s Northern Division in Europe. Easterbrook succeeds Denis Hennequin, who will resign from McDonald's on Nov. 30, 2010 to become chief executive officer of the Accor Hotels Group.
