Foodservice News Briefs for Sept. 22

Foodservice companies making news this week include the ACF, Brinker, Darden, Domino's, McDonald's and Sodexho.

The American Culinary Federation named Michael Matarazzo, executive chef at Bear Mountain State Park, in Bear Mountain, N.Y., its Chef of the Year for 2010. The ACF's Chef of the Year award recognizes an outstanding culinarian who works and cooks in a full-service dining facility.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: DRI) ranks among the top 50 S&P 500 companies recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for corporate management of its climate-change disclosure practices. The CDP holds the world's largest database of primary corporate climate-change information.

Brinker International, Inc. (NYSE:EAT), announced the resignation of chief financial officer, Charles Sonsteby, effective Oct. 1. Brinker tapped Guy Constant, currently senior vice president of finance and Chili's® Grill & Bar chief financial officer, as Sonsteby's replacement. Constant has served in leadership roles in finance, compensation and investor relations since joining the company in 2004.

Domino's Pizza named Michael Lawton its executive vice president and chief financial officer, succeeding Wendy Beck, who accepted a position with Norwegian Cruise Lines. Lawton is an 11-year veteran of Domino's Pizza

McDonald's announced Steve Easterbrook, has been named as McDonald's executive vice president and global chief brand officer, a newly created position designed to encompass marketing, menu innovation, consumer insights and other company assets.

Sodexo COO and Education Market President Lorna Donatone won an Ascendancy Award from, a professional online community for women, in the entrepreneurial category. Donatone earned the recognition for her role in mentoring women who are aspiring leaders. The awards were established in 2009 to recognize, reward and inspire women to maximize their potential in their careers.
