Restaurant Chain Expansion News - August 17, 2010

Burger King, CKE Restaurants, Great Steak, Jamba Juice, Morton's, Red Robin and Salad Works are among the chains announcing expansion results this week.

Burger King opened a Whopper Bar in New York City's Time Square. This unit is in operation 24 hours, seven days a week and represents Burger King's eighth Whopper Bar. Burger King opened its first Whopper Bar in March 2009 in Universal CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida

CKE Restaurants, Inc. announced the opening of the first Carl's Jr. restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia. This marks the first of at least 25 Carl's Jr. restaurants to be opened in Indonesia over the next six years.

Domino's Pizza (NYSE:DPZ) opened its first store in Bucharest, Romania. The pizza chain's master franchisee for Romania is The Radacini Group.

Famous Dave's of America (Nasdaq:DAVE) opened a barbeque restaurant in Bel Air, Md.

Great Steak signed a franchise agreement with Suspiros Pastelerías to open 30 locations in Mexico during the next five years.

Jamba, Inc., (NASDAQ:JMBA) announced franchisee Brunswick Health Food Inc. has signed an agreement to develop four Jamba Juice stores in New Jersey.

Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. (NYSE: MRT) announced plans to open a Morton's The Steakhouse restaurant in Dallas. The unit is expected to open in early 2011, according to a company release.

Restaurant entrepreneur Dhvani Vyas has signed a franchise agreement with Nature's Table Café for the Washington, DC metro market. Nature's Table, a fast-casual healthful dining concept, has 78 restaurants in 12 states.

New England Hot Dog Company, a five-year old hot dog franchise company, has opened five counties in Eastern Massachusetts as markets for new franchise development: Essex, Norfolk, Middlesex, Plymouth and Bristol.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers opened a restaurant in California, Md.

Saladworks signed a franchise agreement for three locations in the Wake County, N.C. area, with the first unit scheduled to open in early 2011.
