Restaurant Chain Updates for the Week of August 2, 2010

California Pizza Kitchen, Jamba Juice, Pizza Inn and Taco Bueno are among the restaurant chains making news this week.

California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPKI) announced the opening of two new locations. CPK opened a 5,600 square-foot restaurant in Newark, Del., its first in that state. The chain also opened a quick-serve restaurant on the campus of the University of Southern California. Managing this unit is franchisee USC Hospitality, which operates 38 dining concepts on the university's two campuses.

Jamba, Inc. (NASDAQ: JMBA) sold 13 restaurants in Santa Cruz, Temecula, and Chico/Redding, California. All 13 restaurants were purchased by franchise operators with current or previous Jamba Juice operating experience.

Pizza Inn, Inc. (Nasdaq:PZZI), opened one of its buffet-style restaurants in Lumberton, N.C. This is first Pizza Inn location in North Carolina to offer drive-thru service. The restaurant chain now operates 37 locations in North Carolina.

SeattleNY, LLC., a franchisee of Seattle's Best Coffee, opened a Seattle's Best Coffee kiosk in the newly renovated Manhattan Mall in New York City.

Taco Bueno Restaurants, L.P., a 43-year-old Tex-Mex quick-service chain, announced plans to expanding its franchise program in the following markets: Houston; College Station, Texas; Memphis; Midland/Odessa, Texas; Nashville; Omaha, Neb.; Shreveport, La.; and Topeka, Kan.

UFood Restaurant Group opened a new location at the Cleveland Hopkins Airport. The Robinson Hill Hospitality Group of Chicago is operating this location.
