For the second quarter of 2025, sales of foodservice equipment and supplies increased 1.6% compared to the previous quarter, per data from Business Barometer published by the Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry. Over the past five quarters, MAFSI members have reported sales changes of 0.0%, -1.0%, -0.6%, 0.2%, and 0.0%.
Looking ahead, MAFSI members project a 2.7% sales increase for the third quarter of 2025. This is also in line with reps’ forecast for the year.
During the second quarter of 2025, sales of equipment increased 1.7%, while tabletop and furniture grew by 1.6%. Sales of supplies declined 0.7% for the period.
By region, the Northeast saw sales increase 2.9% during the second quarter, the West 2.7%, Midwest 2.0% and the South +1.1%. Sales of equipment and supplies items declined 0.6% in Canada.
In terms of quoting activity, 35% of reps report an increase and 41% report no change. Only 24% report a decline in this metric.
Looking at consultant activity, only 15% of reps report an increase and 63% report no change. Only 22% report a decline in this area.
“The disruptive effect of tariffs on the foodservice industry has not yet been fully realized and makes forecasting a nearly impossible task,” said Michael Posternak, CEO for New York-based rep firm PBAC in the report’s executive summary.
