South Block, an East Coast-based acai bowl and smoothie chain, named Steve Heeley its president. No stranger to the restaurant industry, Heeley comes to South Block from Pokeworks, where he served as CEO.

Steve HeeleyHeeley’s background includes serving as CEO of restaurant chains Veggie Grill and Earl of Sandwich. Heeley also served as COO at Baja Fresh, Au Bon Pain, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

In his new role, Heeley will work with South Block founder and CEO Amir Mostafavi as the chain enters its next growth phase.

In January 2024, South Block South Block inked a deal with Savory fund, to help expand the concept. In the last year, South Block added four stores, including a location at the Dulles Airport. This year, the chain plans to add an additional five stores, including two in Charlotte, N.C.
