SHFM Foundation Names 2025 Military Awards

The Society for Hospitality & Foodservice Management Foundation named the nine winners of its Air Force Hennessy Award Program and Marine Hill Award recipients.

The Military/Hennessy Traveler Program promotes educational opportunities for members of the U. S. Armed Forces serving in hospitality assignments. This year’s Hennessy Traveler was Kevin D’Onofrio with State University of New York at Cobleskill. The recipients of the 2025 Air Force Hennessy Award Program are:

  • Region I John L. Hennessy Winner 786th Force Support Squadron, Ramstein AB, Germany (USAFE)
  • Region II John L. Hennessy Winner 374th Force Support Squadron, Yokota AB, Japan (PACAF)
  • Best Missile Alert Field Feeding Operation 90th Missile Wing, F.E. Warren AFB, WY (AFGSC)
  • Best USAFE Foodservice Small Site Winner 701st Munitions Support Squadron, Kleine-Brogel AB, Belgium (USAFE)
  • Air Force Reserve Command John L. Hennessy Winner 442 Force Support Squadron, Whiteman AFB, Missouri
  • Kenneth W. Disney Winner: 138 Force Support Squadron, Oklahoma Air National Guard, Tulsa, Oklahoma

SHFM member Mike Johnston traveled for the Hill Program, which evaluates excellence for the Marine Corps. The recipients of the 2025 U.S. Marine Corps, Major General WPT Hill Awards for Excellence in Garrison and Field Food Service are:

  • The Best Management and Mess Attendant Mess Hall: Anderson Mess Hall, Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Marine Corps Installations Pacific
  • Best Full Foodservice Mess Hall Mess Hall 622, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, AZ, Marine Corps Installations West
  • Best Active Field Mess Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Forces Pacific Okinawa, Japan
