Wingstop promoted Michael Skipworth to serve as chief executive officer from chief operating officer. He replaces Charlie Morrison who resigned to become CEO of Salad and Go. Morrison had been with Wingstop for 10 years.
Skipworth joined Wingstop in December 2014 and has served in a number of leadership roles within the company including executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Dallas-based Wingstop operates and franchises more than 1,700 locations worldwide. In the fiscal year 2021, Wingstop's system-wide sales increased 20.2% to approximately $2.3 billion, marking the 18th consecutive year of same-store sales growth, per a company release.
Just last month Wingstop debuted its “restaurant of the future,” a cashless takeout-only prototype that allows for rapid testing of new equipment and layouts and serves as an innovation lab for menu and guest experiences.
