Ric Smith, a restaurant industry veteran with a development-oriented track record, was hired as sr. vice president of development for Scooter’s Coffee.

Smith’s background includes time with Starbucks Coffee, opening 350 stores in 6 states, per a release announcing his hiring. He also spent time in development roles with Potbelly Sandwich Works and Qdoba Mexican Grill, spearheading the development and implementation of national corporate and franchise restaurant growth strategies for the 650-location chain across 42 states.

In his new role, Smith will lead franchise sales, real estate and construction functions.
