TriMark Buys Chefs’ Toys

TriMark USA, a South Attleboro, Mass.-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealer, has a acquired Chefs’ Toys. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

A dealership based in Fountain View, Calif., the Chefs’ Toys operation includes seven retail locations, also known as superstores. The company also offers a variety of services including design, installation, construction and e-commerce. The senior leadership team at Chefs Toys, including Steve Dickler, president, and Mile Krepistman, vice president, will remain with the dealership.

In 2016, Chefs’ Toys reported annual revenues of $79.12 million, making it the 24th largest foodservice equipment and supplies dealer in the country, according to FE&S’ 2017 Distribution Giants Study.

In addition to Chefs’ Toys, TriMark has several other divisions serving southern California, including TriMark Raygal, TriMark Robert Clark and TriMark RW Smith. TriMark reported revenues of $1.5 billion in 2016, making it the largest dealer in the country, per the Distribution Giants Study. That total did not include TriMark’s acquisition of Hockenbergs ($194 million in annual sales for 2016), completed in February 2017.

This represents TriMark’s first acquisition since the company was purchased by private investment firm Centerbridge Partners back in August of 2017. This continues a spate of rapid merger and acquisition activity among foodservice equipment and supplies dealers over the past 13 months. At least 16 deals have been completed in that time.
