Remembering Edson Gaylord of Gaylord Industries

Edson Gaylord passed away in December. He was 83 years old.

obitEdson GaylordAfter working for his father and company founder, Asa, Edson Gaylord acquired Gaylord Industries in 1974. Under Gaylord’s leadership the company expanded to a worldwide organization and from a staff of 20, to more than 160 employees, according to a statement announcing his passing. He sold the company to Illinois Tool Works Inc. in December 1999.

A native of Portland, Ore., Gaylord graduated from high school and served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Gaylord and his wife, Jeanne, were married for 56 years. He is survived by his 5 children; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place Sat., March 4 at 2 pm at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church in Lake Oswego, Ore.

Gaylord’s wishes were to be cremated and interred at Willamette National Cemetery with Military Honors.
