Company will continue to manage the Foodservice Technology Center as founders Fisher and Nickel transition into new roles.
California-based engineering consulting firm, Fisher-Nickel, Inc. has been acquired by GTI International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gas Technology Institute. For more than 25 years, Fisher-Nickel has managed the Pacific Gas & Electric’s Food Service Technology Center, a highly regarded research and testing organization specializing in foodservice energy and resource utilization. Despite being under new ownership, Fisher-Nickel will maintain its name in the marketplace.
Bill Liss, GTI’s managing director of end use solutions, is the new president of Fisher-Nickel. David Zabrowski was named general manager, handling the day-to-day operations at Fisher-Nickel and the FSTC and supporting gas and electric commercial foodservice programs across the country. Zabrowski has been with Fisher-Nickel for more than 20 years and is responsible for FSTC’s standard test method development program. He has been instrumental in overseeing the development and maintenance of more than 40 test methods that have been ratified by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F26 Committee on Foodservice Equipment.
Don Fisher and Judy Nickel, founding partners of Fisher-Nickel, will remain involved with the company. Fisher’s role at FNI will be to focus on business development and support technical initiatives at FSTC including assessment of refrigeration, kitchen ventilation and building automation technologies. Nickel will help make the transition from the old to the new as transparent as possible to both clients and staff. “We are very excited to continue as part of the team well into the future,” said Nickel. “I think we will be busy,” added Fisher.
