Remembering Dean Barringer

Longtime manufacturers' rep passes away at age 94. 

Retired manufacturers' rep Dean Barringer, founder of Denver-based Barringer Marketing, passed away on April 8. He was 94 years old.

A longtime member of MAFSI, Barringer founded Barringer Marketing Group, known today as Barringer High Country Marketing.

Barringer broke into the foodservice industry as a salesman for Arnholtz Coffee in Wichita, Kans. Arnholtz sold coffee, tea and spices in addition to tabletop and smallwares along with light and heavy equipment for the restaurant industry. In 1953 he became general manager of Arnholtz's new store in Denver. Ten years later he would start his own firm known today as Barringer High Country Marketing. During the 1970s his sons Mike and Brent would join him in the business. In 1991 Mohr Sales Agency merged with Barringer Marketing Group when Rob Mohr joined the business. Barringer retired in 1992, after 39 years in the foodservice industry.

Barringer is preceded in death by his wife Ruth and is survived by four sons, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
