Catering big events is a tough job. It requires an enormous amount of flexibility because each job has a different set of requirements. Spectrum Concessions in The Woodlands, Texas, provides catering services for a number of premier clients, such as the PGA Tour and Cirque du Soleil, and they depend on refrigerated walk-ins from Polar Leasing to help do their jobs efficiently.
Catering Manager Kathryn Irwin explains that “in the past, we used to use rental refrigeration from our grocery vendor. Those were diesel and took up a lot of space. They’re loud and when we’re working in a TV compound, we have to be cautious of how loud things are. So an electric refrigeration unit has been a game changer for us.”
Catering Manager Marcus Anderson likes the consistency afforded by Polar Leasing units. “When we come into an area, we have a specific footprint for catering,” he says. “For me, getting an 8’ x 10’ unit versus getting a box truck is ideal. It just makes my life so much easier.” And, he says, Polar Leasing is reliable. “When we’re expecting delivery, Polar Leasing is there. In 26 total deliveries over the last two years, I’ve had one situation — and it was fixed immediately.” That gives him peace of mind, he says, “because I can’t go without refrigeration. If it fails, then I’m up the creek.”
Irwin says the units are also convenient because they’re “easy to get into. We don’t have to build stairs or walkways to get into the coolers. That has been an enormous change for us.”
Polar Leasing is responsive, Anderson says. “I can’t think of a time when I’ve picked up the phone and not had somebody answer,” he says. “It’s a great relationship and I appreciate everybody at Polar Leasing for taking care of us. It’s a great feeling.”
