Blender Q&A with Consultant Juan Martinez

Consultant Q&A with Juan Martinez, principal and founder of Profitality, Miami

FE&S: What are the main considerations when purchasing a blender?

JM: Operators need to determine what it will be used for, the speed that is needed, how it will fit within the workstation and the cost. The more powerful the blender, the more expensive it will be.

FE&S: How does the noise issue factor into choosing a blender?

JM: When using a blender in a closed kitchen, there are less issues with noise compared with operating it in the front of house or at a bar. The more power that’s needed, the more noise will be produced. Items that are blended more slowly don’t need a lot of power, but fast blending will be substantially louder. Covered blenders are a quieter solution.
