Chain Operating Report for July 1

California Pizza Kitchen (NASDQ: CPKI) announced ten new nationwide menu items, including appetizers, soups, pizzas, salads and desserts. The announcement included a commitment to only serve natural chicken at the chain and the addition of a gluten-free pizza crust option.

Atlanta-based NRD Holdings, LLC, an operator and developer of franchised quick-service restaurants, purchased 23 Domino's Pizza units in Florida: 17 in Jacksonville and six in Orlando. The Domino's acquisition is NRD's first foray into the Florida market and adds to the company's portfolio of multiple-brand restaurants, which also includes Popeyes in Atlanta and Checkers/Rally's restaurants in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Atlanta.

LongHorn Steakhouse, a Darden Restaurants Inc. (NYSE: DRI) concept, opened a new location in San Antonio, Texas.

Pizza Inn, Inc. (NASDAQ:PZZI) opened a location in Springdale, Ark.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen (NASDAQ: AFCE) announced the launch of its Lousiana Leaux program, featuring some healthier menu items including green beans and applesauce. The roll-out also includes better-for-you meals aimed at kids.

A Sonic Drive-In in Homestead, Fla., is the first among the chain's 3,500 restaurants to obtain a license to sell beer and wine.

Allied Wenco International Inc., of Mocksville, N.C., has sold its 12 Wendy's restaurants to Carlisle Corp., a large Wendy's operator based in Memphis, Tenn.
