As part of McDonald's $1 billion makeover, yellow and neutral tones will replace the famed red roofs, vinyl-covered chairs and wooden tables will replace the steel and fiberglass, and earth tones with splashes of red and yellow throughout will replace the once super bright, almost neon color scheme.
Contemporary, subtle lighting will replace florescent bulbs. The new store prototype and subsequent renovation project will also include more flat screens, more mixed seating options, and more drive-thru windows as part of an effort to boost speed of service and provide a modern-day feel. Even the signature "golden arches" will change out to a more contemporary half moon or arc in a bright yellow design.
