Paul Carbone was named interim chief executive officer for Panera Brands, which includes restaurant chains Caribou Coffee, Einstein Brothers Bagels and Panera Bread.

Carbone, who currently serves as the multiconcept operator’s chief financial officer, replaces José Alberto Dueñas, who resigned. Dueñas will serve as a special advisor through the end of March, per a company release.

Carbone joined Panera in 2023 and his background includes serving as CFO for Dunkin’ Brands, also a multiconcept operator. He also has been the CFO of YETI Holdings and SharkNinja.

Panera Brands will conduct a search to identify a permanent CEO.
