Private equity firm Sentinel Capital Partners sold Captain D’s, one of its portfolio companies, to Centre Partners. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Nashville-based Captain D’s is a quick-service restaurant chain with a seafood-focused menu. The chain has 545 units systemwide, including 292 corporate locations.
In 2019, Captain D’s unveiled a new prototype that included a redesigned kitchen and more efficient seating. This approach allowed Captain D’s to cut hundreds of square feet out of its prototype — saving money on both construction and real estate.
Back in 2017, Sentinel Capital acquired Captain D’s from another private equity partner, Centre Partners. At that time, the chain had approximately 530 units. In November of 2021 Sentinel Partners sold Fazoli’s, another quick-serve restaurant chain, to FAT Brands.
