Foodservice Equipment & Supplies named Harborcreek Youth Services the winner of its 2021 Kitchen Storage Makeover contest. The facility offers both behavioral health services along with education on its campus staffed by Pennsylvania-certified teachers.
“We’re thrilled to have been selected,” says Amanda Karns, special projects coordinator at Harborcreek Youth Services. The nonprofit facility has reached capacity with 70 residential students on-site, she says and the makeover “will certainly help us out tremendously.”
News of winning the contest came as the facility’s kitchen manager, Bonnie Felton, with Metz Culinary Management, was hospitalized. While she unexpectedly died before hearing the news, Karns knows she would have been extremely happy about Harborcreek’s receiving the makeover. “Entering was Bonnie’s idea,” says Karns. “She did all of it and certainly now, this will all happen in her memory.”
As the winner of FE&S contest, the facility will receive a makeover of its kitchen storage area. FE&S will feature all the details in an upcoming issue.
The Kitchen Storage Makeover winner was selected by a panel of judges including; Phil Bean, Foodservice Design Associates; Peg Galie, S20 Consultants Inc.; and Armand Iaia, FSCI, Cini-Little.
