Reuben Palm passed away on August 9 at 92 years of age. Palm used to own Palm Brothers Restaurant Equipment and Design, a Minnesota-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealer that was later part of the dealer rollup that became Strategic Equipment Corp. Palm’s parents had founded the dealership in 1910.
He graduated from Harvard University in 1950 and joined the family business, working with his brothers and then five sons. Over the course of his career, Palm was inducted into the Minnesota Hospitality Hall of Fame in 2005 and served on the boards of directors for the Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association and Minnesota Restaurant Association.
In addition to serving the foodservice industry, Palm was very active in the communities where he lived. Palm served as mayor of Minnetonka Beach and as a member of the Orono School Board He was also active in various other civic organizations.
Palm, who was preceded in death by his wife Janice, is survived by his brother Robert, five sons and 5 daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
The family will holding a public visitation from 4p.m. to 8p.m. on Wednesday, August 19 at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel in Edina, Minn. A private family service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 20. It will be live-streamed.
