Multiline foodservice equipment manufacturer to establish a logistics center to coordinate distribution.
Manitowoc Foodservice plans to transfer production of its Cleveland, Lincoln and Convotherm product lines from Ohio to three different manufacturing centers. In addition, the company plans to establish a logistics center in its Covington, Ky., warehouse.
Here’s an overview of Manitowoc’s plans:
- Manitowoc will produce its Cleveland steam products in Concord, Canada. For more than 20 years this facility has produced Cleveland kettles. This has manufactured Cleveland boiler subassemblies for several years. As a result of this transition, Manitowoc will now produce its entire Cleveland brand under one roof.
- Manitowoc will manufacture its Lincoln conveyor ovens in Mississauga, Canada. It also produces Garland convection ovens, ranges and grills for general market customers and restaurant chains from this facility.
- Convotherm mini combination ovens will be built in Shreveport, Louisiana, where employees also produce Frymaster and Dean fryers. Convotherm products currently manufactured in Europe will continue to be produced at Manitowoc’s Eglfing, Germany facility.
Manitowoc Foodservice’s logistics center will enable the company to consolidate inventory for multiple product lines and ship more brands from a single facility.
The news comes a few weeks after Manitowoc announced plans to close its Cleveland manufacturing plant.
