Manitowoc Prepares to Shift Manufacturing from its Cleveland Plant

Multi-line foodservice equipment manufacturer also plans to shut a California distribution center.

In a move related to the company’s plan to spin off its foodservice business into a separate entity during the first quarter of 2016, The Manitowoc Company, Inc. plans to move items it manufactures in its Cleveland facility to other manufacturing locations. Products Manitowoc manufacturers in its Cleveland location includes steamers, conveyor ovens, and mini combination ovens.

Manitowoc anticipates eventually closing this facility, per a company release. In addition to the intended closure of the Cleveland facility, Manitowoc expects to close its Irwindale, Calif., distribution warehouse.

A company release announcing these operational changes said they are “part of a strategic initiative to address production overcapacity and align the company’s global manufacturing footprint for improved operational agility, enhanced product quality, and financial performance.”
