Pietro Satriano will become president and chief executive officer for US Foods, the Rosemont, Ill.-based broadline foodservice distributor, effective July 13. He replaces John Lederer who will continue as an advisor to US Foods and its board of directors.

Satriano previously held the role of chief merchandising officer for US Foods. He came to the company in 2011 having previously served as president of LoyaltyOne Canada, the company behind AirMiles, a large, Canadian consumer loyalty reward program. Satriano's background also includes serving as executive vice president of Loblaw Brands at Loblaw Companies where he was responsible for its complete range of private brands.

The news comes shortly after a judge agreed to uphold the Federal Trade Commission's decision to block Sysco's proposed acquisition of US Foods.
