Café Momentum, headed up by Chef Chad Houser in Dallas, received the 2014 Chefs of Tomorrow Award from Olson Communications.
The Chefs of Tomorrow program was developed to inspire the next generation of chefs and foodservice professionals. Awards are given to culinary schools or chef-driven community programs.
Founded in 2008, the Café Momentum program offers at-risk young men the opportunity to learn all aspects of the restaurant industry from waiting tables to washing dishes, all while working side-by-side with established chefs. An essential component of each of these programs is the ongoing 11 Social Skills Training that guides each student in making positive life choices. The Café Momentum program expands upon those critical skills and allows youths to apply what they have been taught in pre-release programs in a safe, real-world environment of nurturing accountability.

Earlier this month Olson was elected secretary for Les Dames d'Escoffier International, an international organization of 1,900 women leaders in food, beverage and hospitality whose mission is education and philanthropy.
