Former Carrabba's veteran becomes president and CEO of the multi-concept operator.
Restaurant industry veteran Steve Shlemon was named president and chief executive officer for Benihana, succeeding Richard Stockinger. In his new role, Shlemon is responsible for all Benihana locations as well as the company's RA Sushi and Haru restaurants.
Shlemon joins Benihana after serving as president of Carrabba's Italian Grill, a position he held for 13 years. His background also includes serving as executive vice president for Bloomin' Brands, Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill and Carrabba's. In addition, Shlemon was one of Outback Steakhouse's first franchise partners outside of Florida. He began his career at Steak and Ale Restaurant Corp. and served in an executive capacity at TGI Friday's.
