Former Hooters America CEO will look to turn the Florida-based franchisor into a national brand and diversify the company via new concepts.
American Restaurant Concepts, Inc. (OTCBB: ANPZ), operator and franchisor of the Dick's Wings & Grill restaurant chain, named Richard Akam its new chief executive officer effective July 31, 2013. Akam, the former CEO for Hooters of America, will take over for Michael Rosenberger, the American Restaurant Concepts' current CEO.
Akam will focus on expanding the American Restaurant Concepts from a primarily Florida-based franchisor of Dick's Wings restaurants to a national brand. He will also diversify the company through the addition of new brands that American Restaurant Concepts will franchise.
A veteran of the chain restaurant industry, Akam spent 20 years with Hooters of America, holding a variety of positions, including CEO, from 1995 to 2003. Subsequent to Hooters, Akam served as the COO for Twin Peaks, Raving Brands and First Watch.
