Cornyn and Fasano Join Brailsford & Dunlavey

Duo to close Cornyn Fasano Group on July 1 after 37 years in business.

Longtime foodservice consultants John Cornyn and Joyce Fasano have become vice presidents for Brailsford & Dunlavey, a national program management firm that offers comprehensive services ranging from strategic planning to implementation with a focus on education, government and sports/fitness facilities. As part of this transition, the duo will form a foodservice consulting discipline within B&D and close The Cornyn Fasano Group, the consulting firm they have run together for the past 37 years, effective July 1.

"We have been seeking a retirement strategy that would allow us to exit our management consulting practice over a defined time period," Cornyn and Fasano said in an email announcing the change to their customers. "Our original intent was to bring someone into the firm and, with some intense training and nurturing, slowly fade into retirement. The ultimate goal was to provide our clients with an opportunity to achieve and sustain a positive working relationship with our successor. For a variety of reasons that process did not work out as envisioned."

The Cornyn Fasano Group and B&D had a working relationship prior to this development. "We have worked side by side with them before when food is part of a bigger planning process, say for a university," Fasano said. "In one instance at the University of Alabama I did the dining portion to support a large expansion in student housing. B&D did the housing study. They also have done corporate dining, stadiums, K-12 etc. just like we do. The different is that now they won't have to sub out the food management/planning piece, we will build it into B&D's core."

Added Cornyn, "Joyce and I have lived by the phrase 'to always be open to the possibilities.' The opportunity to become part of a dynamic organization serving clients in an exemplary professional and ethical manner was simply too great to pass up. We are looking forward to enhancing the foodservice management and operations discipline at Brailsford & Dunlavey services portfolio."

Both Cornyn and Fasano plan to remain active in the foodservice industry, including maintaining their membership in such organizations as FCSI.
