Remembering Jim Webb

Foodservice design consultant Jim Webb, founder and principal of Tustin, Calif.-based Webb Design, passed away on Oct. 24 following a long battle with cancer.

Webb started the design firm in 1989 and one of his company's projects won FE&S' 2012 Facility Design Project of the Year Award. He also supported a variety of non-profit industry organizations throughout his career, donating his time as a designer, teacher and speaker to things like the Ronald McDonald House of Orange County, the National Restaurant Association's annual Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show, and the National Association of College & University Food Services.

As part of a succession plan crafted prior to his death, longtime Webb Design team member Gina Brinegar becomes the firm's managing principal. Other key members of the Webb Design management team include Costel Coca, design principal; Jim Ferguson, vice president of sales; and Linda Midden, director of interior design.

The firm will also maintain its partnership in DM&A/Webb Design, formed in March 2011 to work collaboratively on design projects for the health care and education markets.

FE&S presented Webb with its Young Lion Award in 1999 and he was a longtime blogger for the publication.
