By now, the industry is well aware of the benefits of touchless technology back-of-house, at the point-of-sale, and elsewhere throughout the dining room and bathrooms. We’ve also discussed the hygiene considerations and operational efficiencies our Touchless Express can offer. Here we discuss a few tips on how to set your staff and restaurant guests up for success when adding a Touchless Express dispenser into your operation.
Place Dispensers Strategically
It should be a no brainer to position your condiments where you need them most, whether that’s near your drive-thru window or at a designated make line or prep station. Limiting movement increases efficiency and speeds workflow, which helps operations get food to their guests faster whether they are in the dining room or drive-thru or are waiting on delivery.
Clearly Display Instructions
As with any new technology, there can be a learning curve. Some users will intuitively understand it – others may need a quick walkthrough. Mount these User Guides next to or on the wall behind your Touchless Express dispenser. The guides include visual and written instructions so anyone, regardless of age or language, can interpret them and dispense your signature sauces on their food.
Accurately Display Contents
In a busy kitchen – whether you offer dine-in, carry-out or both – guessing whether a dispenser holds hot sauce or ketchup reduces line efficiency and increases food wait times. Similarly, if multiple dispensers are placed in dining room self-service stations, it may be easy to tell the difference between mustard and relish, but when condiments start looking similar in color, like mayo or buttermilk ranch dressing, guests would appreciate a clear label.
Take the guesswork out of the equation for your staff and guests. Make sure each condiment is clearly labeled and the correct lid is placed on each dispenser. Use our labels or create your own custom decals for a countertop or drop-indispenser.
Store Back Up Direct-Pour Jars
If you craft your own southern barbecue sauce or chipotle ranch dressing, the direct-pour version of our Touchless Express is for you. This model allows operations to mix their own signature sauces and pour directly into a custom jarrather than be tied to a manufacturer’s pouched condiments.
If you go through more than 1.3 gallons of a particular house-made condiment or topping per day, consider keeping a backup direct-pour jar filled and ready in the cooler for a seamless changeout. The alternative would be to send the empty jar through the dishwasher, let it dry, and refill it before being able to dispense again. Though the downtime may be only a few minutes, it can inhibit getting orders out on time.
Take Proper Care of Your Dispenser
Cleaning a dispenser is not only important for aesthetic and hygienic purposes when placed in a dining room, but routine cleaning of the exterior and the pump itself greatly increase the Touchless Express lifespan and ensure food is not contaminated by food or cleaner residue.
First, keeping the sensor window clear of surface debris ensures there will only be a dispense when triggered by a guest or a staff member. Lightly wipe the window with a microfiber cloth at the beginning of each shift and as needed throughout the day.
When cleaning the stainless steel, don’t use corrosive sprays or cleaners and use cloth rags rather than abrasive sponges or scrubbers. The pump parts and direct-pour jar and lid are dishwasher safe. Rinse the parts with warm water to remove any leftover food before handwashing or running through the dishwasher.
