Soda dispensers are probably the single most common piece of equipment in the foodservice industry. Keeping them working well requires regularly cleaning their components.
- Sugar residue can build up on the dispensers. Soda guns and fountain heads should be cleaned every day with warm water and mind detergent.
- Other parts of soda dispensers should be cleaned frequently. This includes the drop pan, which catches excess soda and ice, and the connector lines to the syrup.
- Wipe down the exterior of the dispenser to remove any drops of dried soda and other smudges and dirty spots.
- Ice bins and chutes can get especially dirty and even slimy. They need special attention. Clean them regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Not everything is about cleaning. Taste your soda daily. If the flavor is off, there may be an issue with the syrup/carbonated water balance. This should be checked by a professional.
