Deli slicers are popular in sandwich shops, grocery stores and more. Taking proper care of these units will keep sandwich-loving customers happy for years to come.
- Keep the blade sharp. A dull blade not only impacts the quality of a cut, it can force the unit to work harder than necessary, leading to an early breakdown.
- If you see nicks or cracks on the blade, it should be replaced. A nick could cause small slivers of metal to end up in the food–an obvious safety hazard.
- Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and maintenance. This includes wiping units down only with approved cleaning solutions and keeping them lubricated with the right type of grease/oil. The wrong lubrication can end up causing a breakdown.
- Keep an eye on the electrical cord. If it’s loose or frayed, it should be replaced.
