Franke Acquires Sertek 
Franke Foodservice Systems has acquired Sertek LLC, a manufacturer of core fabrication used in quick-serve restaurant’s kitchens and dining rooms.
Restaurant Locations Increased 3 percent in 2016 
As of March 2017, the number of restaurants in the U.S. totaled 700,700 locations, according to data from CHD Experts. This represents a 3 percent increase compared to March of 2016.

The results indicate 2016 served the top 100 foodservice equipment and supplies dealers well as sales totaled $9.022 billion, up almost 15 percent compared to the year prior.
Energy Star Recognizes Several Foodservice Equipment Manufacturers 
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy recognized a series of foodservice equipment manufacturers with its 2017 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award. The foodservice equipment manufacturers named Energy Star Partner of the Year are Hoshizaki America, ITW Food Equipment Group and Welbilt.
ITW to Promote Mohamed to VP/GM of
Vulcan 
Mihyar Mohamed will become vice president and general manager of North American cooking for ITW’s Food Equipment Group, effective June 1. He will replace Tim Murray, who will retire at the end of May after having spent 39 years with the company.
