Arc Americas Names Kris Malkoski CEO

image002Kris MalkoskiKris Malkoski was named CEO of Arc Americas, a manufacturer of glass tableware for the foodservice industry. She replaces Fred Dohn, who served as Arc Americas’ CEO since 2007. Dohn spent more than three decades with the company.

Jeffco Public Schools Reform K-8 Dining

Population growth in the communities feeding into Jefferson County Public Schools (Jeffco), the second largest school district in Colorado, led to a new school for students in kindergarten to eighth grades: Three Creeks K-8 School in Arvada, Colo. Project goals for the dining program included creating an inviting school meal environment and providing efficient work space for foodservice staff.

Functional by Design: Pastry Kitchens

Pastry, or bakery, kitchens are specialized operations. Yet restrictions beyond an operator’s control can hamstring the effectiveness of these operations. For example, pastry kitchens often make their homes in pre-existing spaces and have to work around the flaws of those spaces. So when operators have the opportunity to design a new production space, they take advantage of the chance to put best practices into use.

2019 Distribution Giants

Sales among the top 100 foodservice equipment and supplies dealers totaled $10.296 billion in 2018, up 7.82 percent from $9.549 billion in 2017, according to FE&S’ 2019 Distribution Giants study. Sixty-nine percent of the top 100 dealers reported increased sales, up 4 percent from last year. And 22 percent reported a decline in sales, which is 5 percent less compared to last year.

Ghost Restaurant Growth Continues

Call them the next food trucks. Ghost restaurants continue to quietly pop up around the country as a back-end support for delivery-only and high-volume restaurants. In some cases, these facilities take shape as large commissaries, while others resemble shared kitchens offering support for restaurants with delivery-only models or those looking to expand delivery and catering potential.

Smart Care Equipment Solutions promoted Gyner Ozgul to senior vice president of operations for the service agent. In his new role Ozgul assumes responsibility for Smart Care’s various operations teams, which include the following functions: service, safety, technical training and support, IT, customer care, customer success, supply chain, fleet and OEM business development.

Antunes Names Neckopulos Water Filtration General Manager

Antunes hired Melissa Neckopulos to serve as water filtration general manager for the Carol Stream, Ill.-based manufacturer specializing in countertop equipment and water filtration for the foodservice industry.

Electrolux Professional’s Ibrahim to Retire

Nestor Ibrahim, the head of the Electrolux Professional’s beverage business unit will retire from his position at the end of March.
